And When the Daylight Comes, I’ll Have to Go

Standard

Hello, friends!
I know it’s been awhile since my last post, but I’ve been very busy doing something  important–graduating! I’m very proud that last Friday I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in English and a minor in Spanish. And so today’s post comes from that auspicious event, here is my bargain outfit I wore for my college graduation:

graduation carBlack silk dress with sequin sleeves: Daisy Exchange, $8.50
Cobalt pointy toe flats: Target, $7.50
Multi-color collar necklace: Forever 21, Christmas gift from my friend Lyssa!
Gold bracelet: my mom’s
Leopard ring: gift from my friend Morgan
Outfit total: $16

So I apologize, these photos are not of the best quality haha but the light was all weird and things were kind of crazy that day so we never really got the chance to take a perfect picture. But I think you can get the idea!
I’ve had this dress for ages and never had anything to wear it to, it always seemed a little too formal. I love the slinky material and the accent of the sequins on the shoulders, which you can see better in the second picture (taken on the way to graduation haha). I only thought to wear it for graduation when my wonderful friend Lyssa gave me this amazing necklace for Christmas. I actually had a pair of cobalt blue wedges I was going to wear, but they were ridiculously high and I chickened out. I graduated in my school’s auditorium, and the aisles are ridiculously narrow. After I tripped wearing flat boots at graduation practice, I decided that heels were not the way to go. Luckily I had this perfect pair of flats, almost exactly the same color, to wear instead. It was a great decision to go with them, and I think they looked just as cute! I wanted to keep the whole look fairly simple, since I knew no one would even be able to see it for most of the night. It was also important that I was very comfortable throughout, and this light dress and my flats were perfect for that!
So hopefully you like my graduation outfit, you can read all about my experience on my other blog if you’d like. Look for more outfits hopefully soon, I have a couple of weddings and related events coming up that I’ve got some great bargains waiting for me to wear them to!
And in the meantime, here’s a bonus picture of me in my graduation regalia. I look like a rainbow threw up on me:

PS My title today comes from the Maroon 5 song “Daylight,” which I feel is a pretty accurate description of how I felt last week.
