Block Party

Woooow.

So apparently the last time I posted was June 27, 2014.

Geez, there’s really no excuse for that kind of gap. I just got lazy, guys, that’s the sad truth. But I’ve got a few posts saved up, and I’m going to post those, and then I’ll TRY to get back to my poor, long neglected blog!

Today’s outfit comes from waaay back in June, when the sister of my very first best friend got married. Ironically, it was at the same place as the outfit from my last post, which was from another of my friend’s weddings! So many weddings in 2014, guys.

Here is my designer comparison outfit:

Abi Colorblock Maxi Dress by Market and Spruce: $88
Call it Spring Aralian Wedges: $55
ModCloth Nautical Nostalgic Navigation Necklace: $10
Charter Club Simulated Pearl Stud: $17
Outfit total: $170

My copycat bargain outfit:

Colorblock dress: Ross, $12
Turquoise peep toe wedges: Cato, $3.99
Bronze heart necklace: Body Central, $1
Pearl clips: Claire’s, birthday present
Outfit total: $17

I loved the fun, bright colors of this outfit and it was cool and comfortable for an outdoor summer wedding. The pop of the turquoise and the navy against the white really helped the color block of this dress to stand out. I tried to keep my jewelry simple so the dress would be the focal point, and I think a heart necklace is always perfect for a wedding 🙂

It’s always exciting to find a maxi dress that’s the correct length for my short self. This one was just a touch to long, but with my little wedges it ended up perfect–thankfully they matched perfectly!

Again, I know it’s been a ridiculous amount of time since I’ve been posting on this blog, but I promise I’ll try to get back into the swing of things!

Thank you for sticking me with, you guys are the best!

Pax,
Sara

PS

As always, I like to include it when I get a funny behind the scenes picture, and those usually include me getting photobombed by a cat. My boy Gustav was for some reason VERY interested when we were taking these outfit pictures, so I’ll include a couple with him 🙂

IT’S MY TWO YEAR BLOG ANNIVERSARY!!!!

Standard

Hi everyone!!
I am SO EXCITED, because today marks two years since I posted my first ever outfit post on my blog. It’s so hard to believe how long it’s been and how much both my life, my style, and myself have changed!
Today’s outfit comes from a dinner date with one my childhood best friends Cindy.

Est. 1997, y'all.

Est. 1997, y’all.

We went to this cool restaurant, Picasso’s, which is in an artsy area of OKC called the Paseo District. We  listened to some amazing live music and had a delicious dinner, and it was just lovely!

Black leggings: Target, $4
Fringed moccasin booties: Daisy Exchange, $6.50
White tank top: Abercrombie, $5
Outfit total: $22.50

I just love this look, and I’m proud to wear it for my two year blog anniversary! The top is so colorful and slightly exotic looking (I looove long tunics), and I knew it was perfect to pair with my very boho (slightly hipster) moccasins. You all know how much I love my leggings and I thought they were just right for the casual, relaxed vibe of the look.
You also might notice I did something different with my hair– it’s a braid crown!!! I just impulsively tried it and ended up loving how it looked, to my shock haha. I thought it also fit in perfectly with my very hippie sort of look lol.
As always, I hope you love my outfit as much as I do. And, whether this is the first post you’ve ever read or you’ve been with me since that first mess of a post on this blog, THANK YOU for reading. You guys make what I do worthwhile!!

Blinded By Rainbows

Hello again!
I hope you all are impressed because I’m posting again so soon like I actually said I would–I’m proud of myself haha.
Today’s outfit is one I wore to substitute teach, and it’s pretty colorful haha.

Designer comparison outfit:floral dress

Multi Colour Plus Bodycon Midi Dress with Floral Panel: $35
Shoe Republic Fiat – Fuchsia: $55
Gold-Tone Circle Filigree Chandelier Earrings: $18

Black and pattern panel dress: Target, $11.48
Turquoise peep-toe wedges: Cato, $3.99
Multi-color bubble necklace: Christmas gift
Gold dangle earrings: Christmas gift
Gold bracelet: my mom’s
Outfit total: $15.47

This is definitely one of the more unusual dresses I’ve ever worn. I wasn’t sure if I liked it the first time I saw it or not. I was very attracted to all the bright mish-mash of rainbow colors, but the design looked like a Rorschach test to me haha.
After I tried it on, I really liked the structured, tight-fitting top with the flared, flutter skirt. It took me a couple visits, but I eventually ended up buying it, and I’ve fallen in love with it a little bit more all the time!
Like I mentioned, I wore this to sub so I wanted to make sure I looked very professional but still cute. I added my favorite statement necklace my friend Lyssa got me and matched it with my ridiculously cheap turquoise wedges I got on sale at Cato (I bought a black pair too because how can you say no to nice shoes for four bucks?!). Then I finished with my gold earrings from Skye and my mom’s gold bracelet–which I’m aware I wore in my last outfit post, but that outfit inspired me on this one! 🙂
Okay. Now for the truth. That outfit isn’t really exactly the one I wore–I put on those wedges, wore them around for like ten minutes as I was getting ready to leave, and just decided I was too tired to wear heels that day. It’s not that they’re not comfortable–they are, very! But wearing any heels, no matter how comfy or low-heeled they are, is a workout for my calves, and I just couldn’t be bothered. Here’s what I really wore:
IMG_0670

That’s right– boring, sensible black flats haha. But hey, my feet and legs didn’t hurt a bit at the end of the day! If you’re wondering what the total was with the shoe change, a friend of mine actually gave me those so they don’t add anything to my total.
As always, I hope you like my outfit as much as I did, and I’ll have another outfit coming your way relatively soon, so keep an eye out for it!

Pax,
Sara

PS I recently did a color run called Color Me Rad with my sister and two of my closest friends. Since this post is about colorful clothes, I figured this would be an appropriate place to share a couple of my favorite pictures from the day.

It’s All Greek to Me

Standard

Hi everyone!
Since I’ve been so bad lately about posting, I’ve made a conscious effort to get some outfit posts lined up lately, and I’ve already got another waiting after this one!
Today’s outfit comes from one of my favorite events of all time, a wedding!

Outfit total: $14.50

I wore this outfit to my friend Jessica’s wedding–it was at a vineyard, and literary themed, and absolutely gorgeous! The weather was perfect and there was no wind (a miracle in Oklahoma), and it was overall the most lovely day for a wedding you could imagine. I am so happy for Jess and her new husband!

I wanted to go with something comfortable but still pretty, and I thought this was a fun, easy dress that suited an outdoor wedding. I loved the almost minty green color and also the Grecian elements to this dress and at $6.50 I couldn’t believe how cheap it was. It was actually a few sizes too big, but it came with the lovely gold belt and I was able to drape it so that you didn’t really notice it too much. This dress was also flowy and easy to dance in, and let me tell you I danced my butt off and had the best time!
I added my go-to nice occasion shoes (since they’re the only ones I can wear comfortably for a long time haha), my trusty leather braided headband, and my gorgeous gold clip earrings my best friend Skye got me for Christmas. I also was wearing a gold bracelet I got from my mom but I kept banging it into stuff so I took it off before this picture and forgot to put it back on for it :/
I really liked mixing the neutral, more earthy elements of the tan wedges and the leather headband with the more classic elements of the gold braid and flowy pastel green of the dress. I thought it gave it something of a boho goddess feel, and was an interesting change from the usual gold accessories I initially thought to pair it with.
Here’s a pic of me and my dear friends Katie and Lyssa, who I partied with during the wedding. You can also see my earrings and headband a little closer.

Hello, my wonderful Readers!
I apologize, because I’ve been TERRIBLE lately and just haven’t bothered to post any of my actual outfits. I’ve just been Polyvoreing like a fool. But FINALLY I took a stand, and actually took pictures for a real outfit post!

This is the outfit I wore to see the OKC Ballet’s performance of Beauty and the Beast with my mom, one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I absolutely adore ballet, and this was my second time to attend. The first performance I saw was The Nutcracker back in December, and I’ve just been obsessed with it ever since.
Belle is my favorite Disney character, so I was determined to attend this performance, which was unbelievably wonderful. Watching ballet is just this enthralling, absorbing experience for me– the best way to describe it that I can think of is the way that Julia Roberts’ character feels while watching opera in Pretty Woman is the same way I feel watching ballet.

The amazing seats we got (regularly $49 a piece, but we got them for $12 each!!!)

The amazing seats we got (regularly $49 a piece, but we got them for $12 each!!!)

But ANYWAYS. To the actual outfit. I fell in love with this dress– call me cliche, but I wholeheartedly love the whole anchor pattern thing, and the dress just felt so comfortable and effortlessly pretty. My sister had a coupon from her Old Navy card, so I got it even cheaper than it was already on sale for.
That’s one of my biggest bargain shopping tips– if there’s somewhere you really love and shop at regularly and they offer some kind of card or credit card, seriously consider getting it. Old Navy gives a lot of really great discounts and they send them out pretty often, so it’s one I’d recommend investing in.
In case I got cold in the civic center where the ballet was, I brought along the cardigan, which I got a few months ago and wear with everything now because it’s loose and flowy, and white goes with most things.
These shoes I got a couple weeks ago at Daisy Exchange, and I thought they added a casual touch while still matching my glasses (which are new since I lasted posted–and which I also needed to be able to see any of the ballet haha). I think the sandals are perfect for spring/summer. They’re versatile and match a lot of stuff, and also are very comfortable.
Then I finished it off with my silver key necklace, though it’s hard to see in the picture, my Fossil watch, and a ring my parents bought me for Valentine’s day that I’m obsessed with.
I thought it was a cute, easy, but still elegant look to wear for a Saturday afternoon ballet! As always, hopefully you love my outfit as much as I do– and I’m sorry about the long absence! I’ll try and do better, promise 🙂

Pax,
Sara

PS Just another huge thank you to my lovely mother, who is the only other member of my family interested in ballet and who shared my joy and enthrallment in the experience, for taking me! Love you ma mere!
